12 Days!

Time has finally begun to tick for me, and tick extremely fast at that. It seemed like I had a lot of time this summer, as I have been home for two whole months. However, those two months went fast and there are still many things to get done.

This blog is (hopefully) going to be where I keep a diary of my adventures at Vicky Village, and I should first start by explaining things, so here is a quick explanation of CISV!

CISV is a non-profit organization that was originally started in Ohio as a change for young kids to meet people from around the world and have a more peaceful, global view of the world. Dr. Doris Allen thought of the idea after World War II, thinking that if people, especially children, learned how to create and maintain peace another world war would be avoidable.

The first program created was the Childrens International Summer Village, a summer camp-like experience for 11-year olds. Doris was a psychologist who, after doing research on the topic, found that 11 was the idea age for this type of program. At 11 kids are not too mature, or "too cool" to be close-minded, and they are old enough to actually remember things and learn from their experiences. 11 year olds are at the most vulnerable age, they do not yet have their cliques and are looking for ways to live their lives. The CISV experience is the perfect experience that can change a child's at the time where it can have the most impact.
